Free Session, Lexington NC Photographer

Saturday, July 30, 2011

Right now on facebook you can enter to win a free session. Yup free! Hurry over and post a comment. The winner will be announced Sunday evening.

The winner of my last free session drawing invited me to a field at her grandparents home for pictures this past week. The sticky hot air of late July was wicked, but we managed to capture some special portraits.

Happy Saturday! I'm headed out to shoot senior portraits.

What a whirl wind I have been in, shoots, editing, phonecalls, emails, shoots, and more shoots. Everything from Boudoir to babies. I am a bit behind in posting my tid bits from sessions.

I have had an adorable crowd, all worthy off huge pictures on my blog!! Here a a few from a session last week. She was so much fun to be around.

A few weeks ago I picked up this peddle car at the Lexington Farmer's Market. I knew right away that it would be a great prop. Thankfully I had my husband with me that day or I would have never been able to make it back to the car carrying it. It is one solid and heavy little car.

Since this new to me car has been parked in my studio I have had the most fun with it on the side streets of Lexington. Here is a shoot from this week with a cute little guy who took it for a test drive.

This little boy might be turning two, but he doesn't know a thing about the terrible twos. He was perfect for his session, and I was lucky to have the chance to photograph him again. Happy Birthday Landon!!

Real Life Photography. Spiders are everywhere!!!

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Before school got out, one of my boys came home with a very terrifying statistic. No matter where you are, you are never more than seven feet away from a spider. My reaction to this was shock, and disgust. Everyone who has ever had the chance to see me freak over a spider knows the overwhelming fear that I have for those eight legged monsters.

But, the other morning I called a truce with the venom-spitting nasties, and set out on a mission to find something that I liked about them (the list was short). But I did realized that spiders are amazing architects and creators of short lived forms of art. Here are a few of my favorites from the morning that I admired them from afar with a really good zoom lens.

I went back to disliking them the minute I thought one was crawling through my hair and I hit my head on a tree when violently shaking to get it off me. I will never be convinced that they aren't out to get me.

Old Salem North Carolina. Portrait Sessions.... Melissa Sheets

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Tonight after a very busy day I went to meet a sweet couple at Old Salem. It rained but that didn't dampen our picture taking attitudes. Rain usually means that most people stay indoors, so we were happy to have the place to ourselves. I quizzed Jennifer methodically about the structures of the town and the college that surrounds one side. Since she is a former tour guide to Salem College she was able to answer most of my questions. Next time you are headed towards Old Salem for lunch or shopping, I suggest you grab a Salem girl and ask her for a tour.

Andrew and Liz were a lucky couple that snagged one of my open spots at the beach last week. We had fun right at sunset playing on the beach.

I'm back from the beach.... 9 wonderful days of sun, sand and waves! My trip was a little work but mostly play and I am so excited about the busy week that I have ahead. Lots of shoots, bridal and babies, and lots of editing.

Last weekend I postponed my vacation a day and stayed home to photograph a wedding for a very special bride. This girl has been through the ringer in planning her wedding and I had to stick around to be apart of her big day. From the moment I first spoke to April on the phone we clicked, I loved her style and her description of her perfect wedding. When I met Brandon I was thrilled to see that he would be up for anything.

I LOVED this wedding! Isn't it funny how things that don't go as planned, happen just as they were meant to be. April pulled this beautiful day off with two weeks to plan for it. She should seriously right a book. Enjoy a few sneak peeks from last Saturday.

I love first dance shots and this one is going down in my books as a favorite.

Happy Monday (and 4th of July),
