Tonight three generations met me at Tanglewood for family portraits. It has been a hot sticky week in the south and we were lucky that it wasn't sweltering.
Here are some records that NC has hit in the past:
Highest Temperature | 110 °F (43 °C) | August 21, 1983 | Fayetteville |
Lowest Temperature | −34 °F (−37 °C) | January 21, 1985 | Mount Mitchell |
Greatest 24-Hour Rainfall | 22.22 inches (564 mm) | July 15-16, 1961 | Mitchell County |
Greatest 24-Hour Snowfall | 36 inches (91 cm) | March 13, 1993 | Mount Mitchell |
I've never been to Mount Mitchell, but it looks like they hold the most weather records for NC.
