Today I took the morning to recharge my creative batteries. A very sweet and trusting girl agreed to come to the studio for a stylized photo-shoot this morning. I say trusting because she isn't a professional model, yet was willing to go along with whatever I asked her to do.
Heres the skinny on the session:
The scene was lit with one daylight balanced light placed overhead at half power, with one gold reflector on the floor tilted towards the backdrop.
Shot at f2.8, handheld between 1/80 and 1/125
IS0 800
After we finished I did post-processing adding layers on top of layers. I scanned in several old tin-types and created texture sets from these, which were used at different opacities to create depth and add an interesting tonal range.
The clothes from this shoot came entirely from Goodwill, with minor alterations made while shooting. The head-dress is made of dogwood branches and berries collected from my sister's yard... Thanks Sis.
Usually whenever I do a session for fun I have a hair and makeup artist on hand. But I really wanted this to be simple, so I asked Leslie to arrive with her regular makeup on... and I planned on doing her hair. (Trusting right, I am NOT a hairdresser)
