I have had a busy week, that is leading into a busy weekend. Tonight I had so much fun with my Bride and Groom. The wedding was at 12 West Main in Thomasville. It is always the people in the wedding that make it great and that held true tonight.

Tomorrow I have another amazing wedding to photograph in the Union Cross area. And then I'm headed to the beach. I'll be there creating beach portraits, if you will be in the Myrtle Beach vicinity give me a call. 336-425-8602

Happy Friday!

Another cutie came in this week, but this time it was a girl. Seems like lately the boys have been plentiful in my studio. It was fun and sweet to work with a girl again. I was pleased to snap this first shot while "daddy w" was getting her ready. With fathers day right around the corner I though this was a perfect image for the blog. We all celebrate Father's day, but did you know the history behind it?

The idea of Father's Day was conceived in Spokane, Washington by Sonora Dodd while she listened to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909. Dodd (now known as "the mother of Father's Day") wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart, a widowed Civil War veteran who was left to raise his six children on a farm.
The following year, June 19, 1910 was chosen for the first Father's Day celebration, proclaimed by Spokane's mayor because it was the month of William Smart's birth.
Decades later, the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers was issued in 1966 when President Lyndon Johnson designated the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. Father's Day has been celebrated annually since 1972 when President Richard Nixon signed the public law that made it permanent.

Another brand new face came in this week. One of the best things about this job is meeting new clients and friends. We live in a sort of small town, and each time I have the chance to meet a new client it excites me! Mother "O" brought in two cute little fellas, and I loved their session. Here are a few sneak peaks.

Happy Friday!! And happy summer break to all the kiddos who made it through another year of school.

Loved baby Jet! In his itty bitty life he already has the whole world wrapped around his fingers. His parents are positively smitten with him. I can't thank his mom and dad enough for bringing him in to meet me!!

Happy Tuesday.

Oh my goodness, I've been so busy lately! I am working through a bunch of great sessions right now. I am always sad when I am done editing because that means I will be telling the family or bride goodbye for a while.

A few weeks ago I attended a great wedding for one really gorgeous bride. A good friend and fellow photographer was a huge help that day. Meagan Sullins owner of Happenstance Photography is one of those people that you meet in life and you just know there is a reason. Meagan and I got together at my studio last week and I snapped a few pictures of her with her adorable little chicklet.

Look at those cheeks, and big blue eyes... and pudgy little fingers,

... and the sweet wittle nose, and smooth peach fuzzy head that you just want to rub your cheek against, and the wonderful smell of a baby, and the way they look up at you like you are the most interesting person they have met in their young life.... I am getting carried away.

Let me state for the record again... my babies have turned into big boys that will not hold my hand in public, and because of the maternal instinct that stays with you forever, I am forewarning all mothers that walk into my studio with a baby.... before you leave I must hold and snuggle your baby. It is not an option, just a rule. Consider yourself warned.

Then I will go home and tell my hubby that we must have another baby. And he will remind me of 2:00am, 3:00am and 4;00am feedings, dirty diapers, car seats the size of Florida, crunched up goldfish crackers on the floor, spitup on every shirt in my closet, and the way I cry when they leave me for kindergarten. And then he will remind me of the time our entire house was hit with a stomach bug, everyone all at once...and that will remind me that I am happy with the family that I have.

Happy Wednesday,
Melissa
